TDC is currently seeking applications from suitably candidates to fill the position of Temporary Cashier at Home and Building Depot, Frigate Bay Road, Basseterre, St. Kitts. 

Job Summary 

Tendering of all transaction types including cash, cheque, credit and  debit cards, vouchers, charge, bank draft and payment on accounts. The individual is also responsible for giving an account of all tendered transactions at the end of each day.   

Main Duties 

  • Receive payments by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits 
  • Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or accurate change due to customers 
  • Count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change 
  • Maintain clean and orderly checkout area 
  • Establish or identify prices of goods, services or admission, and tabulate bills using calculators, cash registers, or optical price scanners 
  • General Customer Service (including extending courtesies, answering customer questions, inquiries, resolving complaints and provide information on procedures or policies) 
  • Calculate total payments received during a time period and reconcile this with total sales 
  • Compute and record totals of transactions 
  • Perform balance enquiry for staff with gift cards 
  • Keep periodic balance sheets of amounts and numbers of transactions 
  • Bag, box, wrap, or gift-wrap merchandise for customers 
  • Process merchandise returns and exchanges 
  • Request information or assistance using paging systems 
  • Stock shelves, and mark prices on shelves and items 
  • Compile and maintain non-monetary reports and records 
  • Post charges against customers’ or employees’ accounts 
  • Report to management on updates regarding customer queries and sales progress 
  • Monitor and assist customers on the sales floor  
  • Inform management of stock levels of inventory items based on advantage system 
  • Any other duties that may be assigned

Qualifications/Education/Experience 

  • Tertiary level education with subject passes in five (5) subjects including English, Mathematics and Accounts 
  • Previous experience using a Point-Of-Sale System 
  • Previous experience as a Cashier
