About the St. Kitts Nevis Anguilla Trading and Development Company Limited (TDC)

Established in 1973, TDC was the first trading company in the Federation to go public. All trading businesses before that were private and family owned.

Despite substantial skepticism, the promoters of TDC raised the necessary public capital and with strong customer support met the profits and dividend targets to get the company off to a strong start, from which it has not looked back.

The number of shareholders has grown to 2,334, with Shareholders Equity of EC$188 million and Assets of EC$450 million. The company has paid over EC$70 million in dividends to its shareholders, where the value of its shares has grown attractively over the years.

TDC is also a development company. It was formed with the business philosophy of investing in ventures which contribute to the growth of the economy and expansion of the local market. The company has branched out into businesses in both St. Kitts and Nevis across the spectrum of the economy, including real estate, construction, tourism, manufacturing, airline services, insurance, and finance. It has also participated in joint ventures locally and abroad and has expanded into the islands of Anguilla, Dominica, and the British Virgin Islands.

For the month of March, farmers are being celebrated by the TDC Home and Building Depots for their contribution to agriculture, in St. Kitts and Nevis.

Over the four (4) week period, the retail stores are offering savings on tool, garden supplies, including mulch, fertilizers, pesticides, equipment, machinery, and inputs, among others.

This year, several farmers will be recognized for their efforts with the ‘Farmer of the Year’ Award, which is an in-store shoppers’ incentive launched in 2021, to help them acquire additional materials to better increase output.

To meet their varying needs, field representatives from the Lawn and Garden Centres have been visiting and interacting with the fraternity offering practical advice and solutions on how to improve production, while ensuring food safety and security.

As part of its COVID19 response agenda, the executive and management team of the TDC Group of Companies has taken another proactive step towards educating its staff about the COVID19 vaccination programme presently ongoing in the Federation.

On Thursday 1st April 2021, by invitation, Mrs Latoya Matthew-Duncan, Nutrition Surveillance Coordinator, in the Health Promotion Unit of Ministry of Health, made an informative presentation to a wide cross section of the staff at the TDC Training Room on Fort Street in Basseterre.

Immediately following the well-received session, a Covid-19 Vaccination Clinic led by Nurse Williams-Campbell from the Community Health Services Unit and her team, Nurses Warner, Bussue, and Hodge administered the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine.

The first dose was administered to Mr. Earle Kelly, Group Chairman, followed by senior managers and other staff who willingly volunteered to receive their jab to protect themselves from contracting the deadly disease.

According to Mr. Kelly, “the COVID-19 vaccination program, like all similar programs in the past is very important to ensure the protection and long-term health and well-being of our staff, customers, and by extension their families.”

He further added, “We have strongly encouraged all our staff to take full advantage of the opportunity to attend today’s session. TDC continues to play our part in achieving the seventy percent (70%) target, in the short term, to return to normalcy and re-open the economy fully.”

The staff in attendance praised the timely initiative and many are eagerly looking forward to receiving their second dose in the coming weeks.

A similar session is already being organized for the staff on Nevis in partnership with the Health Promotion Unit (HPU).

As the COVID-19 global situation evolves, the TDC Group of Companies has taken steps to safeguard its staff and customers, by implementing a series of measures to educate and protect patrons at its respective businesses.

These measures were immediately put in place following a recent presentation to the management team by Dr. Hazel Laws, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Mr. Abdias Samuel, Head of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), on the pandemic.

At strategic points across the Company, several hand sanitization stations have been set up, along with bold signage under the caption Hero Habits, offering simple and helpful guidelines from industry experts.

On its social media channels, information is posted about actions that should be taken to help prevent the contraction and spreading of the disease and will be revised as updates from the health authorities become available.

To ensure customers’ and employees’ safety you are reminded to maintain “social distance”, i.e., up to six feet. In addition, payments by credit and debit cards and the use of online payment platforms, instead of cash, are encouraged.

These actions are in addition to the deep cleaning processes already in place which pays special attention to frequently touched surfaces, such as, shopping carts, shelves, light switches, doorknobs, POS systems, registers, counters, etc. There is a heightened awareness about hand hygiene and all staff are encouraged to wash their hands thoroughly and often and to wear gloves, where practicable.

An Emergency Response Team has been established to evaluate and respond, in real time, as part of the proactive approach to tend to the needs of the staff and customers, if needed.

These steps form part of the company’s ongoing commitment to balance exceptional service, while keeping everyone healthy.
